911 Dispatch Services

Located within the Pikeville Police Department is the 911 Emergency Dispatch Center.  Pikeville Dispatch 911 Center is held in the highest regard throughout the state of Kentucky for being one of the best 911 centers. The operating staff consists of seven full time dispatchers on a 24-hour shift coverage.  Dispatchers are certified through the Department of Criminal Justice Training and receives continuing education training in Criminal Justice Information Systems, Emergency Medical Dispatch and critical incidents.  Pikeville 911 Dispatch utilize a new, state of the art Computer Aided Dispatch service, providing nationwide communication through the Criminal Information System for better response time for public safety responders.

 

Police:  24- Hour Police Protection

The Police Chief, James Adkins, commands a professional and courteous staff of twenty-two sworn Officers and two full time Detectives providing coverage for the City of Pikeville.  The Pikeville Police Department is located at 101 Division Street, Pikeville, KY 41501.  The goal for the Pikeville P.D. is to provide citizens with information and help educate our community on how we make the city safer and reduce the fear of crime.  The Department provides coverage for citizens with an average response time between five and seven minutes. 

The Detective Division handles criminal, narcotic and abuse cases. We provide many community-focused projects, such as child seat inspection stations to help educate the community on the importance of child care safety.  Pikeville Police Department provides a Neighborhood Watch Program and other security services for those within City Limits. 

We partner with other agencies in joint ventures, such as the AHIDTA (Appalachian High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area) and UNITEPIKE Coalition to help ensure the safety to our residents. 

 

    

Fire:  24-Hour Fire/EMT Protection and Ambulance Services

Organized in 1824, the Pikeville Fire Department has provided professional service to the city for 184 years.  The new leadership of Fire Chief Ronald Conn is an exciting time for the department.  The Department has 3 fire stations located with the city limits to provide a timely response to any emergency incident.  Station 1 is located on Chloe Road near the downtown business area. Station 2 is located on Island Creek, on the south end of the city. Station 3 is located on the north end of the city near the Cassady Boulevard business district.  The Fire Department is staffed with 26 professionally trained firefighters/EMTs working 24-hour shifts and a group of dedicated volunteer fire fighters to provide around the clock fire protection and emergency ambulance service to the community.

 


Pikeville Medical Center

 

Pikeville Medical Center resides at 911 Bypass Road, Pikeville, KY 41501. The phone number is 606-218-3500.  As a state of the art regional hospital with 261 beds, it provides services for the community with the Leonard Lawson Cancer Center, the Heart Institute, Neurosurgery, a 40 bed Inpatient Rehabilitation Center, Medical Detoxification Unit, and a home based air lift service (MedFlight of East Kentucky).  www.medicalleader.org
